DREAM WAVE on the Indie Darkroom – 87.7FM WNYZ New York – 11/09/11 by Dream Wave Radio
Many moons ago, the band Backlights stopped by the studio and entertained us with a live set performed on the air from our studio in Brooklyn. It was a lot of fun hanging out with them, they played great and that was like the second or third time we had ever had a live band on the air.
We love backlights here at the indie darkroom. They were one of the first artists to contact us and support us when we first started out, they make great music and are all around nice peeps.
On October 25th, backlights made us love them even more with two magical acts of greatness. First they saved the day after our PA system broke. We found ourselves a power amp mixer combo thingy on Craigslist but we still needed speakers. Without asking for anything in return Backlights, with the help of Evan (of Tanuki Suit) donated four PA speakers to the indie darkroom, thus saving the day and allowing us to continue having great bands playing live on the air from our studio. The second thing Backlights did on October 25th was, They came back to the studio and played live on the air again! They made a video of the performance that night, here it is, enjoy. Check backlights out at www.indiedarkroom.com

On September 25th, 2011, the world suffered a great loss when Raymond Blanco, bass player of ohnomoon
passed away unexpectedly. By all accounts, Raymond was one of the nicest people you
will ever meet and loved dearly by those lucky enough to have known him.
ohnomoon is an NYC based shoegaze band that paints a lush and dreamy
soundscape full of movement and empathy, started by a close group of friends with a love for
each other equaled only by their love of music.
The band will be playing their first show since Raymond’s passing as part of The
Deli Magazine CMJ Showcase “Dream Pop Stage” TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18th at the The Delancey (168 Delancey St., NYC). They take the stage at 7:30pm.
This would be a great opportunity to show your support for ohnomoon and a
chance to catch what could only be a great show. We hope to see you there.
You can check out Ohnomoon on the indie darkroom.
Last nights episode of Darkroom Live featured time travel with the magic harp, story time with Stirling and a very special story about Me (Gabe Galvin) starting a lemonade stand as a grown man in 2006. I made a lot of money and got a lot of press locally for my business venture. In this clip from the episode of darkroom live, I tell the story of the lemonade stand, The Gabe’s Fresh Lemonade jingle writing contest and play 5 of the best lemonade jingles that I had received from the contestants. Check it out and here is a link to the old myspace page for the lemonade stand and the jingle contest.

I realy like this video. Twin Sister did a great job. Twin Sister has been in the top 10 on indiedarkroom.com a number of times now. Currently, their song Lady Daydream is currently at number 8 in the top 10 and im sure that the top 10 we remain a familiar place for twin sister in the future. If you would like to hear them play live on the air from our studio (as I would), you should probably write to them and tell them just that. Artists like Twin Sister are the reason this weeks episode of “Darkroom Live” will be dedicated to women vocalists.
Love,
-Gabe
On June 7th 2011, Strange Shapes came by the studio to play a live on air set on the indie darkroom 87.7fm . They played six songs on Darkroom Live hosted by me, Gabriel Galvin. This song “Slow Sound” was the last song they played that night and will be on their upcoming EP. It was a real pleasure having them, and I hope they come back soon. Chris Lee, host of “cheap and easy” on Thursday nights was also in the studio and interviewed the band. Chris also video taped some of the performance and will be uploading that soon. I have to say, this video turned out pretty good considering that I shot it with my cell phone. Audio recorded and mixed at Four Foot Studios by Gabriel Galvin.
you can find Strange Shapes and many other great Independent artists at indiedarkroom.com
love always,
-Gabe
So, sometimes I don’t have a guest on “Darkroom Live” so maybe next time that happens I will just interview myself. Ask me some questions here and I will read them on the air when I don’t have a guest for Darkroom Live. you can also send your questions for Gabe to ask@indiedarkroom.com
Love always,

Strange Shapes – Mild doubt by indiedarkroom
last Tuesday at midnight on “darkroom Live” with Gabriel Galvin, A great band called Strange Shapes came by the studio and played a full set on the air. They where Inventive, solid, fun, and the best dudes around.
I was here to record the show with a little help from our intern Justus Caruso. Im in the process of mixing the recording from that night, but im done with this one so here it is. This is an unreleased track and the studio version will be on their upcoming EP. I think the song is called “Mild Doubt” , but im not sure. I will be posting more songs as I go and sometime this month I will be posting some videos from the night.
