ATTACK.WAV on Darkroom Live (and on the TV)

A couple months ago, ATTACK.WAV played a live set on Darkroom Live (darkroom live airs Tuesdays at midnight on 87.7fm the indie darkroom).
It was great having them here and they played wonderfully. Believe it or not, this was their first ever show as a band and I am proud to have been able to get to them first before they become jaded rock stars.

That night, they had with them a film crew to video tape (tape?) the show for some sort of public access Television show. The show aired on January 6th and it was kind of weird seeing myself on the television and the whole concept of a radio show on the television made my brain spiral into an infinite loop of nonsense.

If you missed the original broadcast, here is said video. The part with Justus Caruso (our studio intern) is ridiculous. Enjoy! (after watching you will feel an urge to play sonic the hedgehog). Find more from ATTACK.WAV at www.indiedarkroom.com/ATTACKWAV

Former Belle in the top ten

lots of great artists in the top ten this month. Hardest Days  by Former Belle came in at number 5 thanks to your ratings. Bruno of Former Belle contacted me to voice his appreciation for the support from all of you that listened to the music and helped get Former Belle on the air. Bruno also sent a link to this video for your enjoyment so check it out.

Former Belle will be playing at North Star Bar in Philly on December 3rd at 9pm with Owen, Caithlin de Marrais (ex- Rainer Maria) . You can buy tickets through this link . Its pretty cool that Former Belle will be playing with Caithlin de Marrais because Caithlin will be performing live on the air on the indie darkroom Tuesday at Midnight. I suppose its a small world in the indie darkroom universe. Maybe this means that Former Belle will be playing live from our studio sometime soon, we will just have to wait and see. In the mean time, check out Former Belle at www.indiedarkroom.com

Ohnomoon, Raymond Blanco and CMJ

On September 25th, 2011, the world suffered a great loss when Raymond Blanco, bass player of ohnomoon
passed away unexpectedly. By all accounts, Raymond was one of the nicest people you
will ever meet and loved dearly by those lucky enough to have known him.

ohnomoon is an NYC based shoegaze band that paints a lush and dreamy
soundscape full of movement and empathy, started by a close group of friends with a love for
each other equaled only by their love of music.

The band will be playing their first show since Raymond’s passing as part of The
Deli Magazine CMJ Showcase “Dream Pop Stage” TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18th at the The Delancey (168 Delancey St., NYC). They take the stage at 7:30pm.
This would be a great opportunity to show your support for ohnomoon and a
chance to catch what could only be a great show. We hope to see you there.

You can check out Ohnomoon on the indie darkroom.

I love this video.

I realy like this video. Twin Sister did a great job. Twin Sister has been in the top 10 on indiedarkroom.com a number of times now. Currently, their song Lady Daydream is currently at number 8 in the top 10 and im sure that the top 10 we remain a familiar place for twin sister in the future. If you would like to hear them play live on the air from our studio (as I would), you should probably write to them and tell them just that. Artists like Twin Sister are the reason this weeks episode of “Darkroom Live” will be dedicated to women vocalists.
Love,
-Gabe

Featured Music: Phil Lomac, ‘Stranger’s Funeral’

New York audiences are in for a rare treat this weekend, when Chicago based singer-songwriter Phil Lomac plays Arlene’s Grocery. Phil is touring in support of his brand new record, Stranger’s Funeral, sure to be seen as one of the more exciting offerings of 2010.

Phil’s music has been compared to Elliot Smith’s or Nick Cave’s. His songs shine with a certain clarity of thought and expression. Solid songwriting and arrangements are matched to lyrics that have power and genuine depth. Phil’s songs always have a backbone. Dig a little deeper and there is always a little more underneath. We’ve decide to feature the title track off Stranger’s Funeral for your listening pleasure. Phil doesn’t perform east of the Catskills often, so lovers of crafty songwriting: now is your chance to hear one of Chicago’s best.

Phil Lomac will be at Arlene’s Grocery, Sun. Nov. 21st, 7pm

Featured Music: Backlights, ‘Chase Scenes’

Backlights serve up some moody vocals and swirling synthesizer chords on this single from their soon to be released EP.  ‘Chase Scenes’ has a sweet and melancholy feel to it. I can almost hear the rain tapping suggestively in the streets. This track gets at a deeper more layered sound, seeming both heavy and light, wound up but unforced. Backlights have been creating quite a buzz lately. We can’t wait to hear some more from the NYC four piece.

Featured Music: Dilian, ‘Basement’

Dilian is a Brooklyn musician with an amazing sound, somehow managing to be clear and chaotic, naive and clever, moody and upbeat, all at the same time. We’ve been listening to Dilian’s ‘Basement’ all week. I think you’ll agree there really is a certain magic on this track, a folksy, inventive song with a sort of moody exuberance. Dilian has some new material on the way so keep your ears open.
