Oh No! and the Tiger Pit
Band bio (via Conor Mitchell):
“There are many garages in America. Some are workspaces, some are storage units. Some are more akin to a barn or shed. Some are suburban and spotless while others are, quite frankly, rat-infested shitholes. Some are laboratories, some are launching pads. Some are dungeons, some are safehouses. Some are fire hazards, some are gyms, some are breweries and wineries, some are sunless, and some are full of sparks. A few are museums, fewer are tombs, and fewer still are birthplaces, spots of origin, homes in and of themselves. There was a particular one just like the last example, full of sweat and old radio. It housed R&B tunes, surf rock, and punky doo wop. It held a lot of noise and a lot of fun. It sheltered a particular brand of liberation, something quintissentially American and cocky, but also blissfully unaware of itself. It contained a band that started out with nothing but Ramones covers and turned into something else fairly rapidly. Something comprised of four very good friends having a very good time and calling the whole party Oh No! and the Tiger Pit. They played in the garage for a while, then they played some shows, then they decided to keep going to find out what else might happen along the way.

Monuments
In the winter of 2008, Monuments drove north to begin laying down tracks for their debut album. Surrounded by snow, in a studio in Woodstock, many of the songs they recorded had begun as lyrical inquiries: singer Gabriel Berezin, 10 minutes late to work, watched an airplane fly through his office window in the World Trade Centers on Sept 11, 2001.
Monuments’ lineup took form over the intervening years; in came drummer Mike Cook, followed by guitarist Kevin Plessner, and bass player Grant Zubritsky. The band co-founded The Periodic Label, a collective of twenty bands, and played shows throughout Brooklyn and the surrounding environs. Their self-titled debut album, to be released January, 2010, includes tracks “Not My Own” an existential sci-fi exploration, the epic and waltzing “Silver Star,” and ‘I’m Here Now,” a stomping narrative, fever dream. Led by vocals swooping from an imaginary mountain peak, Monuments layers cascading, chiming guitar textures with throbbing bass, tightly tethered by metronomic, drum like precision. From a devastated diary of home recordings, Monuments re-imagines the future of the past into sonic hope.
